Lucky Leone, 2016

Lucky Leone's experience is that the world is a serious, tragic and ultimately humorous place. His work looks at the world and questions why people (including himself) do what they do, and why things in the world are the way they are. The ideas and works contain careful thought, eased by a sense of humor.
As Leone learns and progresses, he feels freer to take whatever creative avenues he is interested in. Investigation, exploration and explanation, but not necessarily in that order, dominate his thinking process and his art. Consistent in the work is the importance of concept, experimentation and experience.
For the most part the ideas Leone generates (and deems worthy of further investigation), dictate the media in which the final work is presented which include techniques from sculpture, photography, painting, drawing, performance and video.

Lucky Leone, Untitled, 2015

After unsuccessful careers in both the legal and medical professions (where attitude and wardrobe are apparently overruled by a lack of proper training and diplomas), Lucky Leone is currently a professional artist whose work ranges from sculpture to painting to electronics to video to works that utilize elements from all four disciplines. Leone received a BFA and an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from San Diego State University. He exhibits widely, mostly in academic galleries and museums.
Leone is currently teaching in the Digital+Media department at The Rhode Island School of Design. He has taught a wide variety of disciplines including sculpture, three-dimensional design, drawing, life drawing, freshman and sophomore seminars, at RISD, Bristol Community College (MA), San Diego State University (CA), The School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts (MA), and Brown University (RI).
Leone now lives in Providence with his super smart partner and his friends Bobo the Bonobo, MissMatched Socks, Noisette, and Mouse.
